Roger N. Witter, 93, of Messiah Village, formerly of Chambersburg, passed away on November 26, 2021. He was born on March 30, 1928 in Chambersburg; son of the late Earl C. and Agnes (Neikirk) Witter. On June 7, 1947, he was united in marriage to Esther V. (Schildt) Witter in Taneytown, MD; she preceded him in death on July 6, 2015. Roger was a graduate of both East Berlin High School and Messiah College and member of the Messiah Village Brethren in Christ Church. Roger served as pastor at Big Valley, Air Hill, South Mountain, and assistant pastor at Mount Rock, and served as several interim pastorates of Brethren in Christ churches. He served on various Regional and General Conference Boards and Committees. Roger was an active volunteer at Messiah Village and involved with the Golden Mouse Club and Singing Men. He loved the Lord, his family, and church. Roger was a Rural Mail Carrier for twenty-eight years out of the Chambersburg Post Office and involved with various community activities. His interests included traveling, video, and computers. Roger was preceded by his wife, Esther; sisters: Phyllis Long, Marilyn Rice, and Mary Winter; and brothers Howard Witter, Samuel Eugene Witter, and Robert Witter. Surviving is daughter Rosanna Bitner of Charlotte, NC; daughter Miriam Sollenberger (Charles) of Manheim, PA; daughter Angela Theda (Danny) of Colorado Springs, CO; son Marlin Witter (Phyllis) of Waynesboro, PA; son Kevin Witter (Cynthia) of Shippensburg, PA; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters Geraldine Schildt, Dorothy Potteiger, and Janet Lehman. Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM Memorial Service at the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church (7041 Cumberland Hwy. Chambersburg, PA 17202). Inurnment will take place in the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Roger to the Christian Retreat Center, Brethren in Christ Missions, or the Messiah Lifeway Endowment.
