Peggy R. Shaffer

June 14, 1946 – June 13, 2023

     9:42PM, June 13, 2023, Peggy Shaffer quietly passed away in her sleep into the arms of her Lord, after a brief illness. She was born June 14, 1946 in Roaring Spring, the daughter of William P. and Ethel Frederick Ritchey.

     On January 4, 1970 she was married to Donald Gene Shaffer in McConnellsburg, PA by Pastor E. Loy Garber. Surviving is her husband of 53 years; a son, Mark A. Shaffer (Julie); a step-daughter, Sabrina K. Will (Joe); and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronald W. Ritchey; two sisters, Judith A. Ritchey and Sharon K. Minelli; and a step-daughter, Rebecca A. Hazenstab.

     In 1964 she graduated from Central High School in Martinsburg, PA. She was employed by the Spring Cove School District for 41 years; the last 33 years as Business Manager and School Board Secretary. She was a lifetime member of the Curryville Church of the Brethren and served on various committees. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and eating out.

     Friends will be received from 5:00PM-8:00PM, Friday June 16, 2023 and 10:00AM-11:00AM, Saturday June 17, 2023. At 11:00AM Saturday, a Funeral Service will take place with Pastor Chris Heinlein officiating. All of the above will be held at the Curryville Church of the Brethren. Following the Funeral Service, a Graveside Service will occur at the Dry Hill Cemetery in Woodbury.

     Memorial Contributions in Peggy’s name can be made to the Curryville Church of the Brethren (1535 Curryville Road (P.O. Box 5) Curryville, PA 16631-0005).
