Nancy Miller Obituary

Nancy M. (Smith) Miller, 94, of Martinsburg, formerly of Woodbury, passed away on October 17, 2022 at Homewood in Martinsburg. She was born on August 5, 1928 in Piney Creek; daughter of the late Clarence and Isabel (Bice) Smith. Nancy was united in marriage to George Wayne “Mose” Miller on May 1, 1949; together they celebrated 70 years until his passing on August 16, 2019.

She was employed by A&P for many years, holding a variety of positions with the company. Nancy was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed painting, reading, crossword puzzles, and a mean game of Scrabble.

Nancy was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Fortney, Naomi Slagenweit, Helen Roller, Golda Smith, Mary Alice Sauer, Peggy Hoover, and Shirley Knepp; and brothers, Emmert, Donald, Clarence Jr., and Homer Smith.  She was the last remaining child, number 10, in a family of 12.

Surviving is daughter, Rebecca L. Smith (Donald) of Woodbury; grandson, Nick Smith (Codie) of Bedford; granddaughter, Megan Ritchey (Ben) of Roaring Spring; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Peyton Ritchey; brothers-in-law Dwight Miller and John Knepp; and sister-in-law, Beverly Ritchey.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10:00AM at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren; Pastor David Ulm will be officiating. Interment will be in Dry Hill Cemetery.
