Kimberly A. (Bontrager) Shope

Kimberly A. (Bontrager) Shope, 61, of Hopewell, passed away on November 7, 2021 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. She was born on August 17, 1960 in Uniontown, PA; daughter of the late John and Alice (Barclay) Bontrager. On June 27, 1987 in the gazebo at the Maranatha Church, she was united in marriage to Robert C. “Bob” Shope. Kim received her bachelors degree in special education from California University of Pennsylvania. She was a special education teacher for the Northern Bedford School District for 20 years. Kim was a member of the St. John’s Reformed Church and enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, and planting flowers. Her greatest love was that of helping raise her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jordan K. Shope in March of 2003. Surviving are her husband, Robert; son, Skyler Shope and wife Ariel of Woodbury; grandchildren Kayden, Jace, and Emma Shope; brother Jon Bontrager; and sister Lori Slavik. Friends will be received on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 3:00-7:00PM at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury and Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00-11:00AM at the St. John’s Reformed Church in Loysburg.  At 11:00AM, Friday a Funeral Service will be held at the church with Pastor David Meckley officiating. Interment will be in the Shope Cemetery, Blacklog. If so desired, Memorial Contributions in Kimberly’s name can be made to the National MS Society.
