James Brower Obituary

James W. Brower, 68, of Martinsburg, passed away on May 21, 2021 at Homewood in Martinsburg. He was born on September 20, 1952 in Altoona; son of the late Leonard Charles and Dorothy Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Brower. Jim was a Class of 1972 graduate of Central High School. On August 18, 1973 at the Curryville Church of the Brethren, he was united in marriage to Sharon L. (Hoover) Brower.  Jim retired from PENNSTRESS, as the Transportation Manager. His responsibilities included coordinating delivery of large prestressed concrete bridge beams, bridge structures, and commercial products. Prior to that, he worked at NES&L NEWCRETE Division for over 18 years. He served as Plant Supervisor, Site Coordinator, and Transportation Manager. A landmark project for Jim was supervising the installation of all the precast elements for Lincoln Financial Field; home of the Philadelphia Eagles. Before his time at NEWCRETE, Jim spent 17 years building custom homes as the owner and operator of Brower Construction in Martinsburg. Jim was well respected and greatly appreciated by his customers and co-workers alike. Jim loved his family; they were everything to him. If he wasn’t doing something with the family, you would find him on his tractor mowing or just tinkering. His biggest passion was Gettysburg and anything Civil War. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Chamberlain Brower. Surviving is his wife, Sharon; daughter Bobbi Eckman and husband Brady of Martinsburg; son Jimmy Brower of Martinsburg; only granddaughter and the light of his world, Aubry Lynn; and siblings Nancy Ranker, Anna Klepser, and Beverly Garman. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 18th starting at 4:00PM at the Henrietta Sportsmens Club. Arrangements by Stone Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.
