Helen Eshelman Obituary

Helen Louise (Imler) Eshelman, 87, of New Enterprise, died Sunday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Waterside, daughter of the late George Ralph and Marie Elizabeth (Wallace) Imler. She married Arthur Max Eshelman on July 18, 1953 at Crossroads Church of the Brethren. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2009. Helen was blessed with 15 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are 6 children: Beth Myers (Allen) of Lewistown, Stephen Eshelman (Beth) of New Enterprise, Thomas Eshelman (Karen) of New Enterprise, Lisa Ritchey (Blair) of New Enterprise, Lori Foust (Rex) of Lewistown, and Rebecca Kehler (Eric) of Mifflintown; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings: Esther Dibert, Paul Richard Imler, Leanna Hall, and Sheila Moore.

She was preceded in death by: a daughter Wanda Jane; an infant daughter; and 11 siblings: Bernard Imler, Elwilda Dibert, Belva Harclerode, Donald Warren Imler, Herbert Imler, Sara Baker, Daniel “Sonny” Imler, Robert Imler, Erma Imler, Gerald Imler, and Deloris McConahy. 

Helen was a 1953 graduate of Morrison’s Cove High School. She was a member of New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, the Women’s Fellowship, Jr. Women’s Club, Nason Ladies Auxiliary, and was a NBC Band booster. She enjoyed quilting with her sisters and the Church Quilters, playing Pinochle with her friends at card club, and watching her kids and grandkids play in sports and music concerts. She was an avid reader. Her faith, family, and friends meant the world to her.

Friends will be received on Wed., May 18, 2022 from 10am until the 2pm funeral service at New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Pastor Marlys Hershberger will officiate. Interment will take place at New Enterprise Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren and/or the Morrison’s Cove Library.
