Dr. Thom R. Gardner Obituary

     Dr. Thom R. Gardner, 71, of Martinsburg, formerly of Franklin County, passed away on March 11, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on December 10, 1951 in Latrobe; son of the late Joseph and Doris (Fischer) Gardner. On September 27, 1977 in Latrobe, he was united in marriage to Carol A. (Mango) Gardner, who survives.

     Thom was a pastor, author, teacher, and counselor. He was the founder and president of Restored Life Ministries, Inc. He and his wife, Carol, traveled extensively teaching about the restoring heart of God. A few of Thom’s signature books are, Healing the Wounded Heart, Relentless Love, Living the God-Breathed Life, and Life Repurposed.

     Thom was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved Jioios pizza. Thom enjoyed music and playing the trumpet; his younger years were spent in bands and his later years as a worship band leader. Thom loved his family, his friends, and his pets, Aretha and Joy.

     He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and John. 

     Surviving is his wife, Carol A. Gardner; daughter, Jennifer Schneider and husband Dave (children, Alice, Hayley, and Owen); daughter, Amy Frye and husband Timothy (children, Clara, Audrey, and John); daughter, Christina Helfrick and husband Brenton (children, Hannah and Thomas); twin brother, Joseph Gardner (Arnett); and sister, Carol Jeanne Ross (Jim).

     A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, 4359 Woodbury Pike, Woodbury, PA beginning at 2:00 PM. We hope family and friends will please join us!

     In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Thom’s name can be made to Restored Life Ministries, Inc. (1721 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201).
