Donald E. Houp, 93, of Altoona, formerly of Woodbury, passed away on September 16, 2022 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born on July 14, 1929 in Henrietta; son of the late Robert M. and Elsie Irene (Weyant) Houp. Donald was united in marriage to Betty J. (Imler) Houp on February 25, 1950 in Woodbury; she preceded him in death on March 12, 2022. Together, before Betty’s passing, they celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
Donald was a truck driver and mechanic for New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company. He was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, the Redmen Club, the Cove Lions Club, and the Ravers Gap Sportsman Club. Donald enjoyed restoring old cars, motorcycle riding, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death his wife Betty, one sister, and a son-in-law, Dennis. Surviving is daughter, Shirley J. Hall of Frederick, MD; son, Joseph R. Houp (Janan) of Hopewell; daughter, Peggy L. Teeter (Clair) of New Enterprise; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and a brother, Herbert C. Houp.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury; and Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren. Pastor David Ulm and Rev. Larry Graybill will be officiating.
Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
