Cathy Jo (Koontz) Hart

     Cathy Jo (Koontz) Hart, 68, of Woodbury, lost her battle with lung cancer on December 14, 2021. She was born on June 29, 1953 in Roaring Spring; daughter of the late Jake and Janice (Walter) Koontz. On March 20, 1971 at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, she was united in marriage to Daniel L. Hart; he preceded her in death on August 6, 2018.

     Cathy loved being a school bus driver and drove for 37 years. She first drove for Ed and Dorie Benson and recently, Carbaugh Bussing and Leidy Transportation. Cathy’s corgis; Corki, Mickey, Callie, and Josie were her constant companions and provided great comfort to her. She raised many puppies through the years and enjoyed receiving pictures and updates from their new families. Cathy loved her horses, winning numerous team penning trophies with Freckles and Ellie. She had a special bond with her current trail-riding horse, Holly, as she was the last horse Daniel bought her before his death. In recent years, she and Holly rode many trails in Benezette with close friends Cindy, Pam, and Rick.

     Surviving is son Scott Hart (Kathy); daughter Jolene Black (Chuck); son Jason Hart (Jackie); sisters Carol Price (Mike), Connie Imler (Frank), Carey Bush (Bob), Crissie Pepple (Jim), and Candy Imler (Harley); step-grandchildren Dylan (Megan), Derek (Jestine), and Brooklyn, with whom she had a special bond; great-grandchildren Delaney (who shared her love of horses), Emery, and Dawson; and close friend Krista, who was Cathy’s backbone just as much as Cathy was Krista’s backbone. Cathy cherished her time with the Breakfast Club which included her sister Carey, niece Amy, as well as Amy's children Harper and Hudson.

     Friends will be received on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 9:00 to the 11:00AM Funeral Service at the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Interment will be in the New Enterprise Cemetery.
