Carl L. Williams, Jr., 71, of East Freedom, passed away on March 3, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 22, 1952 in Elkton, Maryland; son of the late Carl L. Sr. and Betsy R. (Everett) Williams. On August 1, 1980 in Winchester, Virginia, he was united in marriage to Shelley L. (Cronemiller) Williams.
Carl was an Altoona High School Class of 1970 graduate and later attended Vale Tech. He retired from the railroad where he worked in welding, painting, and management. He was a member of the Bedford Forge Community Church and the Men’s Group at Faith UMC. Carl was an avid fisherman and history buff. He loved reading, dirt track racing, and practical jokes. Through the years, Carl coached baseball and softball and touched the lives of his players while doing it. Above all, Carl enjoyed the time he spent with his family, grandchildren, and dogs, Bea and Ava.
Surviving is his wife, Shelley; children, Carie Thomas (Barry), Amy Cooper, Carl L. Williams, III, Shila Ulrich (Derek), and Nena Stewart; 14 grandchildren; long-time friend, Vince Cartwright; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury; Pastor Beth Pyles officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 4:00-8:00PM and Friday from 10:00AM until the hour of service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bedford Forge Cemetery.
