Betty J. Houp, 92, of Altoona, formerly of Woodbury, passed away on March 12, 2022 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born on May 21, 1929 in Hyndman; daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen M. (Moore) Imler. Betty was united in marriage to Donald E. Houp on February 25, 1950 in Woodbury. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. Betty worked as a clerk at Mahoney’s and Ebersole’s stores. She also worked at the Martinsburg Sewing Factory. Betty was a member of the Woodbury Church of the Brethren and enjoyed knitting, quilt making, and making dishcloths. She was preceded in death by her siblings and a son-in-law, Dennis. Surviving is daughter, Shirley J. Hall of Frederick, MD; son, Joseph R. Houp (Janan) of Hopewell; daughter, Peggy L. Teeter (Clair) of New Enterprise; as well as 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 4:00PM-7:00PM and Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service. Pastor David Ulm and Rev. Larry Graybill will be officiating. All of the above will be held at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
